Robotics team wins Champions Award, heads to sectionals!
Congratulations to the King Arts Robotics Team (4th-8th grade), which took home the Champions Award at the Illinois Qualifier at the University of Chicago in December! It was an exciting day, where their tremendous season-long effort ended with them holding the trophy with ear-to-ear grins and an opportunity to compete at Sectionals later this month. It was a proud moment for the team, the families, and the King Arts community.
There are 4 equal parts to the competition:
- Robot mission score
- Robot Design (presentation)
- Innovation Project (presentation)
- Core Values of Teamwork, Innovation, Inclusion, Discovery, Impact, and Fun
One portion that stood out as something the team was extremely proud of was their Innovation Project. They were required to research real-world problems associated with the ocean and provide an innovative solution. They met with several scientists, iterated as a team based on feedback and new findings, and delivered a well-researched presentation of their solution to help divers be more efficient in exploring shipwrecks. Great work!
